Party for the BBBS!

Last Thursday was the first meeting for Big Brothers and Big Sisters at South Toms River Elementary. I joined BBBS because i love children and i have been through alot in my life so i believe i could help comfort them in whatever they are going through. Today we are having a small halloween party for the children. We are decorating Halloween Trick or treat bags....well they are paper brown bags from foodtown but it should be fun! We are going to also have snacks and juices with the kids. I made cinnamon swirl bread with vanilla glaze last night. I had a piece, it is delicious! i hope they like it. I love to bake and last night i couldnt stop...i also made a cake! . i didnt even eat a piece yet. =] The only yhing that i do not like about BBBS is that some people who join are not responsible enough or they act like they dont care. BBBS counts as community service so some people join just because it look good for college and stuff like that. I dont know his last name, but the social worker that runs the program, his name is Harvey, he is really nice and he really truly cares about these kids. I hate to see him upset. If you join BBBS you have to attend every meeting. It is very important, because if you dont, the children will be let down and you dont want that to happen. Last meeting, which was the very first one like i said earlier, many people didnt show up, and the look on Harvery's face broke my heart. One girl was getting her braces removed, which is a good excuse, but she didnt have the decency to call harvy up and tell him, and then other people just didnt show up. Among the people that did show up, there were people that wasnt paying attention to him. This makes me upset and i hope people contributes to the party today. They said they were going to bring things in. I hope they do.
